Spring, Summer and Autumn

Experience the Villnösstal valley among blooming alpine meadows, sunny high-altitude trails, or golden autumn forests – and let yourself be touched by the unspoilt nature of the Dolomites.

Hiking and cycling

Active holiday in the Dolomites
  • Endless opportunities await you to explore the Dolomite landscape right on the doorstep of your holiday apartment – from leisurely walks to challenging summit tours and via ferrata. For ambitious mountaineers, we recommend tours with a mountain guide to climb the peaks safely. Along the way, cosy alpine huts tempt you with delicacies from their alpine kitchens from May to November.
  • With the Slow Dolomites Card, which you will receive upon arrival, you can enjoy free guided hikes and discounted Slow Food Travel experiences such as bread baking on a farm or wine tastings.
  • Autumn is also a wonderful time for hiking – roam through colourful forests and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Autumn in South Tyrol is Törggele season, when farms treat their guests to home-cooked meals and refined dishes. We recommend a hike from the Ganoihof via the Ottohöhe to the Moarhof snack station in St. Jakob.
  • Cyclists can expect leisurely paths through the valleys, challenging road bike routes over mountain passes, or mountain bike tours in alpine terrain – there is something for everyone.

Climbing and horse riding

  • The high ropes course in St. Magdalena offers fun and thrills among the treetops. Climbing enthusiasts will get their money’s worth at the Vertikale Brixen climbing centre, even in bad weather.
  • At the Gruberhof in Coll or at Romina Cosentino's in Teis, horse lovers can enjoy guided rides through the picturesque landscape or learn more about handling horses.

Swimming and wellness

  • For a refreshing dip on hot days, the outdoor pools in Klausen and Brixen, the Völser Weiher lake, or the natural swimming pond in Lüsen are ideal.
  • After an active day, you can relax in the baths, thermal spas and saunas of Brixen, Meran, Sterzing or Reischach.

Discover history and culture

  • History enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the monasteries of Säben or Neustift and Trostburg Castle near Waidbruck. Stroll through the charming town of Klausen with its narrow streets, historic buildings and cafés. The Church of St. Jakob is visible from the Ganoihof, near the pre-Christian sacrificial site of Tschaufis. This and other churches in the valley invite you to admire architectural development over the centuries, valuable frescoes and altars.
  • The Mineral Museum in Teis and the Nature Park Visitor Centre Puez-Geisler offer fascinating insights into the region’s nature and geology. A visit to the Reinhold Messner Mountain Museums is also recommended. Located in spectacular settings, the six museums provide impressive insights into mountain culture, history and the fascination of the Dolomites. Selected books by Messner are available in our library at the Ganoihof.

Relax on the farm

Relax in the Garden of Ganoihof
  • Seating areas on the farm invite you to enjoy a picnic with views over the valley. A wooden platform on our meadow can be used for yoga sessions, playing or sunbathing.

We are happy to assist you in planning your activities during your stay on our farm. Our library at the Ganoihof also offers a wide selection of hiking guides and maps.
